What I see in firms
The same few problems in most firms
Whether it's conveyancing, wills and probate or family work, the pattern is familiar.
Someone in the office is already drafting with ChatGPT, and nobody's quite sure what's been pasted into it.
Your case management provider has launched AI features, and you can't tell whether they're safe to switch on.
Conveyancing files stall while someone chases searches, mortgage offers and signed documents.
Clients ring for updates, and the calls land on the people who should be doing the legal work.
The way in
Confidentiality first
For a law firm, the question is never whether AI can do something. It's whether you'd be comfortable explaining to a client, or to the SRA, how their information was handled. So the work starts with knowing what's in use and agreeing what's allowed. Automation comes after.
The audit
What's in use, what it touches, where client data goes and where the risks sit.
The rollout
Approved tools, a policy for a regulated law firm, and training on what never goes into a prompt.
The chasing
Onboarding, document requests and progress updates, automated around your case management.
Save time
The chasing, the checks and the updates
Onboarding and ID checks
Client forms, identity and AML checks and client care letters collected in one flow. Onboarding and AML Flow, from £1,950.
Chasing documents and third parties
Requests go out on a schedule and follow-ups escalate on their own, so a file doesn't stall. Client Document Chaser, £1,750.
Progress updates at every milestone
Clients hear when searches come back, when the offer arrives and when you exchange. Progress Updater, from £1,950.
Notes into the file
Meeting notes turned into a draft file note and saved against the matter, for a fee earner to check and approve.
Win more work
Enquiries answered and reviews collected
Enquiries answered the same day
New enquiries get a prompt, accurate reply with the right questions asked. From £1,950.
Reviews at the right moment
Asked for at completion, when clients are most grateful. From £1,500.
Content within the rules
Useful guides for your site so people find you, within the SRA's rules on unsolicited approaches.
Governance for
SRA-regulated firms
The part that decides whether you can use AI at all
Every rollout includes a governance kit written for law firms, covering confidentiality, supervision and client transparency.
What's in it
A one-page AI policy, including what never goes into an AI tool
An approved tools register, with where each tool keeps its data and whether it uses your inputs for training
A rule that a qualified person reviews anything AI has touched before it reaches a client
A usage log, so supervision can be shown rather than assumed
A short clause for your client care letter explaining how you use AI
A data protection impact assessment checklist
An anonymous staff survey that shows what's in use today
General guidance written against the SRA's standards, not legal advice. Your COLP confirms it for your firm.

An example, start to finish
A residential purchase opens on Monday. The client gets an onboarding link that collects their details, ID and source of funds in one go. As each milestone passes (searches back, mortgage offer received, contract approved) they get a short update automatically, written in your firm's voice and checked by the fee earner the first time it's used. When a document is outstanding, the reminder goes out on day three and again on day seven without anyone setting a diary note. The fee earner sees the whole file in the case management system, as before, with fewer calls to return.
What it costs
Fixed prices for firms
Software you already use
Working with your case management system
I work with the systems high-street firms already use, including Clio, LEAP, Actionstep, Osprey, Quill and Proclaim.
Several of them now sell AI features. If you're deciding whether to switch one on, the vendor check tells you in writing where the data goes, whether it trains on your inputs and what evidence there is that it works.

A client portal of your own
Some firms want a secure portal where clients upload documents and see exactly where their matter is. I build those, starting with a working prototype for £1,950.
