Where practices are
Most practices are in the same place
If it feels as though AI arrived in your office before anyone agreed any rules, you're in good company.
of UK private practices created an AI policy last year.
Tolley, 2024of firms use generative AI but haven't embedded it.
Spotlight, 2025say skills and training are the biggest barrier.
ICAEW and CAW, 2024of UK tax professionals worry about public AI tools.
Tolley, 2024The way in
Rules first, automation second
The practices that get the most out of AI start by knowing what's already in use and agreeing what's allowed. Then they automate. Doing it the other way round is how client data ends up somewhere it shouldn't.
The audit
Which tools your team already uses, what they touch, and where the gaps are.
The rollout
Approved tools, a one-page policy mapped to ICAEW's guidance, and a team workshop.
Then the admin
Chasing, deadlines and onboarding, automated around the software you already have.
Save time
The admin that eats the week
Most of it is chasing, re-keying and remembering dates. None of it needs a qualified accountant.
Chasing clients for records
Reminders go out on a schedule, follow-ups escalate on their own, and your team sees who's outstanding at a glance. Client Document Chaser, £1,750.
MTD quarterly deadlines
Every quarterly deadline tracked, with reminders going out early and a person checking each one. Deadline and Renewal Engine, £1,950.
Onboarding and AML checks
New client forms, ID checks and engagement letters collected in one flow, using the tools you already pay for. From £1,950.
The same questions, answered again
Where's my return, what do you need from me, when's my deadline. Approved answers your team can send in seconds, written once and checked by you.
Win more work
Growth without hiring
The time you get back only matters if it goes somewhere useful. For most practices that means advisory work and more clients with the same team.
Faster advisory
AI-assisted commentary for management accounts and cashflow packs. You review and sign everything. Available on request.
Reviews and referrals
Happy clients asked at the right moment, and reviews followed up without anyone having to remember. From £1,500.
Your own website
Your site on your own code, so the team can add a page by asking Claude in plain English. From £2,500.
Tools for your clients
Something you can offer your clients, and charge for
Under MTD, the quality of your clients' records decides how long your team spends on them. One trade publication put it plainly: record quality determines the margin (AccountingWEB, July 2026).
Clients send receipts by WhatsApp, email or a web form, and the Client Records Assistant files them into Dext, Xero or Drive. A record-quality score shows who needs a nudge before the deadline.
It works for the clients who will never download an app. You can include it in your fees or sell it as a paid MTD-readiness service alongside your compliance work.
+ £4 per active client a month, with a £150 monthly minimum
The Assistant helps get records to you faster. It doesn't make anyone MTD compliant on its own. Records still end up in MTD-compatible software.
Governance for
ICAEW-regulated practices
The paperwork, done properly
Every rollout comes with a governance kit written for accountancy practices and mapped to ICAEW's published guidance on generative AI.
What's in it
A one-page AI policy your team will actually read
An approved tools register, with where each tool keeps its data and what it's allowed to be used for
A usage log, so you can show what was done and who checked it
A short clause for your engagement letters telling clients how you use AI
A screening checklist for data protection impact assessments
An anonymous staff survey that shows what's being used today
A client-facing FAQ you can send to anyone who asks
The kit is general guidance, not legal advice. Your compliance lead confirms it for your practice.

Built around Xero, IRIS, Dext and the rest
Most practices already pay for more than they use. I work with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, IRIS, CCH, Dext and Karbon, configure what they already do, and fill the gaps where they don't reach.
Your software providers are selling AI features too. If you can't tell whether one is worth it, I'll check where the data goes, whether it trains on your inputs, and whether it works, in writing.

Sometimes the right solution doesn't exist anywhere yet. I can build those too! Starting with a working prototype for £1,950.
